Salt River Fields

Sectors: Structural Engineering; Stadia
Applications: Structural connections of steel flood light frames

Summary: Lindapter Hollo-Bolts were used in the structural connections of flood lighting frames surrounding the main 11.000 seat stadium of the new Salt River Fields Spring Training Facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies.

Lindapter’s recently appointed distributor for the Southwest of the USA, Southwest Fastener, seized the opportunity to supply nearly 700 original M20 (3/4”) Size 2 Hollo-Bolts to Able Steel Fabricators, the project’s fabricators, to facilitate faster erection of the steel sections within the time constraints of the project.

The Hollo-Bolts were used to connect the large end plates of the horizontal structural tube cross beams to the vertical tubular frame of the lighting rig. The M20 (3/4”) structural steel expansion bolts feature Lindapter’s patented High Clamping Force (HCF) mechanism, shown to increase clamping force by up to three times thereby reducing displacement when compared to the same sized product without the HCF mechanism.

The large angled tubes of the floodlight frames are certainly distinctive of the new landscape; the first major baseball spring training facility built on Native American land. Since its construction, Salt River Fields has been named Southwest 2011 Sports Project of the Year by Engineering News Record.
