Summary:

The Lindapter Hollo-Bolt steel cavity connector has further demonstrated its capabilities at the New York Waterway Midtown Welcome Centre.

The renovation of the Welcome Centre involved the addition of two new, glass clad buildings that are located on the busy Hudson River on the West Highway. The Hollo-Bolts were used to secure glazing framework to rectangular hollow section, allowing the contractors to prefabricate all of the steel sections with pre-drilled holes.

The patented connection method proved an ideal solution, as it eliminates the need for unsightly welding or strapping, producing an aesthetically pleasing finish. Once installed, only the Hollo-Bolt head and collar are visible.

Simple to install, the product offered a tremendous reduction in installation time and labor costs over traditional methods, no special tools or hot work permits are necessary for installation and the Hollo-Bolt offers high shear and tensile load capabilities. For aggressive environments, the Hollo-Bolt comes with JS500 protection as standard and is available in stainless steel if the application demands.

Hollo-Bolt has recently gained LARR approval and the full seismic approval from ICC-ES for all seismic design categories (A through F).
