Allerton Waste Recovery Park, Yorkshire, UK

Sectors: Building Services
Applications: Heavy Duty Pipe Supports

Summary:

Lindapter clamping systems were specified for Amey’s new waste management facility in Knaresborough. Allerton Waste Recovery Park will reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill in North Yorkshire and York by 90% and generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 40,000 homes.

The Girder Clamp by Lindapter is an innovative product for connecting steel sections together that is said to be faster than welding or drilling and bolting, and was used to secure the heavy duty pipework throughout the site. The connection assembly consisted of a location plate and four Type AAF clamps which attached multiple support brackets to steel beams in order to suspend large industrial pipes.

The specifiers were confident that the Type AAF was the correct choice for the application due to its high strength, reliability and longevity. Lindapter’s range of independent technical approvals and over 80 years’ experience provided further reassurance for the engineers.

The Girder Clamp’s lateral adjustability allowed the contractors to quickly and precisely align the pipes during installation. The contractors saved further time and money due to the Type AAF self-adjusting to suit the flange thickness, allowing just one type of connection to be used throughout the project.
